Watch this space, a new article will be posted every Monday.

The Adventure Of Sabie

When you think of adventure, what pictures come to mind?

What do you think of?

Well this is what I picture as adventure.

I went to Sabie on a weekend outreach and it was amazing to see how God worked in people’s lives, not only the people of Sabie, but our lives too. Yet this is not about the actual ministry work, I am going to tell you guys about the small little adventures that we went on in between.

We were able to see all the small waterfalls and even one big one.

But it was so much fun, a friend of mine and I even stood underneath one of the waterfalls, it was so amazing so refreshing, so enticing. It made me want to do something super crazy and adventurous.

While we were standing underneath the waterfall it almost felt as if it was alive, it would dance with the wind as it was performing on a stage. And we gave a standing ovation.

I even juggled underneath the waterfall, it was as if the water fall was a spot light, then when I stopped it slowly drifted away again. It felt as if the waterfall was trying to lead us to some hidden path way, because it would go then come back, then go and then come back, as if to encourage us to follow him.

It was amazing, that moment will forever be in the back of my mind. I felt like a child again, it was great just to have fun and get dirty, without a care in the world.

I think everyone should have a crazy adventure once in a while. It is worth the risk, just try it what could go wrong. 😉

Live Like This

In this life we have many ups and downs

But all we seem to care about is who gets the crowns

We see ourselves as the most valuable

And forget about those who are admirable

When we live like this we will never be fulfilled
when we live like this we will be fooled

We should see others better than ourselves
Living to serve them ‘til we’re old

In a life as short as this we should learn from those who have come before us

And see that they tried the same thing and therefore we can trust

In a life as short as this

We should not live like this

My Fair Lady

I remember when we first got you

So small and cute

You were running around afraid that I would catch you

Looking here and there as if you were about to find a jumpsuit

I remember you all black and fluffy

On the ride home you were filled with curiosity

But as you got older you started going grey

Just like the clouds on this sad day

You would cry out for attention

Yet I would turn a blind I to the thought of affection

You had so much love for me
And all I had to do was just, simply be

I will miss you my fair Lady

I will never forget all the ways that you were so crazy.

Life Lessons: Driving Test

Well I have to tell you something that will make me very vulnerable and I am okay with that because in doing so I am allowing you to learn from my mistakes so that you don’t have to make them too. Saves us time and pain.

So this lesson has to do with my driver’s licence test, and yes if you haven’t guessed it I failed on my first attempt. Now I know some of you are thinking how could you fail it is so easy (just like I would have thought in the past) and some of you are thinking don’t worry man I know how you feel.

And let me tell you what I have learnt, I have found that even if you practice, a lot stuff can happen, basically I was a bit arrogant and thought I never hit the curb so while I was doing my second parallel parking, I thought to myself (even though I realised that I already had made a small mistake) I never hit the curb so I will be fine, yet I hit the curb. Therefore I failed.

However I did learn something through all this, I learnt that when something goes wrong don’t expect it to just come right all by itself you have to make adjustments to correct it. Yet the first step is to admit that you have made a mistake and the second is to take responsibility for that mistake and make a change.

I also found a common thread within my failures in life and that was this, it was that during those first few moments after the disappointment you have a choice to make (and this choice has so much power and motivation behind it because you have just failed) either you can sulk and wallow in self-pity or you can choose to get back up and use that anger, frustration and energy to learn from your mistakes and correct them. Failure gives such great strength and motivation; it is something that I have never felt before.

I found that I was very restless and that I had to do something so I started juggling and I became quite good at it.

You see it is in these times that we find ourselves turning to comfort food, or something of the sort. Yet the great thing is That you can choose your comfort.  Or instead of comfort start practising a new skill.

I hope that after reading this you feel a bit more enlightened and realise that failure is not all that bad.

FYI: I passed on my second try 😉
